Alternator Bracket

This kit installs with simple hand tools in about 30 minutes. Many different alternators can be used with our bracket. We prefer the full size Delco unit with a built-in regulator used on many GM and Jeep vehicles. The basic kit includes all hardware, bushings, shims and spacers to install the bracket on a Jeep with a straight generator adjusting arm mounted to the water pump. If you have the curved adjusting arm mounted to the front engine plate you might consider changing to the straight arm. To use the curved arm you will have to do some grinding on the arm and the alternator housing for clearance.

The alternator will be in position to use the stock 4-cylinder 5/8” wide belt if you use a 5/8” alternator pulley. This pulley is available from alternator rebuilding shops or from Willys Works. You can economize by using the narrow alternator pulley with a Gates belt #9415 or equivalent. It is a little large for the alternator pulley and a little small for the water pump pulley but it does work.
